Today, smartphones have become a big part of our lives. There are a lot of entertainment now. Also we almost spend everything with it. For example, we can watch TV on apps like TVer, can watch short video on Instagram or TikTok, and can listen to music anytime. Because of this convenience, almost people spend a lot of time on social media every day.

First, social media is helpful because it makes people relax and enjoy. For example, when I am commute to school or wait for my class to start , I always watch short videos. It is easy to communicate with friends sharing funny videos. Social media can make life more enjoyable.

Second, social media can also be stressful because people often use a lot of time for their smartphones. Recently, I feel tired, because of spending too much time on my phone. Sometimes I watch social media apps without reason. I often think that I will only use my phone for a few minutes, but I finish wasting hours.

Finally, using social media can cause a kinds of real problems. For example, I spent too much time watching videos and forget to submit my homework assignment. I noticed it, after the time limit is up, and I felt very stressed. Then I realized that social media can easily waste important time if we are not careful.

In conclusion, social media is both helpful and stressful. It depends on how people use it. I think smartphones are very convenient, but we should decide to screen time and use social media wisely.

I really enjoyed reading your post because I felt the same way about how social media can be both helpful and stressful at the same time. Your examples, like watching short videos while commuting or waiting for class, were very relatable. I also use apps like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube during small breaks, and sometimes it really helps me relax. When I feel tired or bored, watching something funny or interesting gives me a quick mental reset. In that sense, social media definitely adds some enjoyment to everyday life.
However, I also agree with your point that social media can easily become stressful. I often tell myself that I will only check my phone for a few minutes, but then I end up scrolling for much longer than I expected. This happens especially at night, and sometimes I stay up too late because I keep watching videos or reading posts. The next day, I feel tired and regret it. Even though I know it’s not good for me, it’s hard to stop once I start. I think many people around our age experience the same problem, so your example felt very realistic.
Your story about forgetting to submit your homework because you were watching videos also made me think. I have had similar experiences where I planned to start an assignment, but I opened social media “just for a moment,” and suddenly thirty minutes or even an hour had passed. It’s scary how quickly time disappears when we are on our phones. I realized that social media is designed to keep us watching, so unless we control ourselves, it’s easy to lose track of time.
Overall, I agree with your conclusion that social media is both helpful and stressful depending on how we use it. Smartphones are extremely convenient, but without setting limits, they can interfere with our daily responsibilities. Recently, I have been trying to reduce my screen time by turning off notifications or putting my phone in another room while studying. It’s not easy, but I feel a little more focused when I do that. I think finding a healthy balance is important for all of us.
