Last year, I watched the M-1 Grand Prix with my family. Takurou is the funniest, they are champion. Their performance focused on American-style jokes and dubbed movie dialogue. It was very interesting, but it also made me  think about the differences between Japanese humor and American humor.

When we watched the M-1, we talked about American jokes. American humor has unique expressions and ways of joking. It is different from Japanese humor. Sometimes they use the opposite words that they really mean. Because of this, it is difficult for Japanese people to understand whether American people are being serious or joking. For example, in American movies, people sometimes say strange things, but it still sounds funny.

I think American jokes are interesting because they are very expressive. In Japan, people often laugh because of their reactions and timing. , but American jokes usually have a strong impact. Also, American people like making jokes during conversations. Their reactions are often bigger and more dramatic than Japanese people's reactions.

After talking about American jokes, we started joking together. We used dramatic voices, strange jokes, and funny comparisons. Like those characters in American movies. Sometimes the jokes did not make sense and did not interesting, but these made us laugh even more. We all enjoyed it and laughed all night.

Through this experience, I learned that differences in humor teach us about cultural differences.  If we do not completely understand American jokes, they can still be funny and enjoyable. I also learned that people can enjoy comedy together, even if their cultures and languages are different.
